An Evening at the Waldorf

An Evening at the Waldorf

On March 1st I had the privilege of attending an event celebrating the closing of the historic Waldorf Astoria New York, or more importantly the grand life it celebrated for nearly a century. As with any industry event, there was delicious food, wonderful drinks and people everywhere.

What made this event memorable though was the overwhelming sense of pride and tradition in the air. Whether talking to a bellman who has been there for over 50 years or a sales person who interned there for a brief time many years ago, it was evident that the Waldorf will always have a special place in their hearts. The hotel served royalty, Hollywood’s biggest and brightest stars, as well as couples from New Jersey celebrating anniversaries and milestone birthdays. Though these guests don’t necessarily share common stories, once they walked through those doors, they all experienced the highest level of service the Waldorf was known for.

The hotel has been a New York City landmark for as long as anyone can remember. Although the details of the renovation are not entirely clear, we look forward to seeing what the future holds for this iconic and legendary hotel.
